David H. Smith is the founder and managing director of several Connecticut based Venture Capital firms including Tailwind V.C., LLC (founded in 2000), Contra V.C. LLC (founded in 1998) and Interim Advantage Fund (founded in 1996). He is a member of the Board of Directors of Pro-Pharmaceuticals and serves on the Board of Directors of several other companies including Nemogen Inc., Mannix Oil and Spincor, LLC. He is the co-founder of Canberra Industries, an analytical instrument company and served as Vice President and Director from 1966 - 1986. In 2000, Merrill Lynch took the company public. He also founded Canberra Laboratories in 1966, the largest laboratory in New England and served as the CEO until he sold it to MetPath, Inc, a subsidiary of Corning, Inc, in 1986. He also served as Assistant Secretary at Chemical Bank, NY, from 1961-1966. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hamden-Snydey College.
